Discover the magnificent Prokletije Massif, often called the “Balkan Alps”, the largest and most dramatic mountain range in the Balkans. Part of the Dinaric Alps, Prokletije represents their southernmost, highest, and most impressive section, renowned for its rugged beauty and sharp peaks.

The massif stretches between Skadar Lake and the Zeta Valley in the southwest, the Drim River in the east, Metohija and Mokra Gora in the northeast, and the Komovi Mountains in the west. Its powerful appearance and steep, alpine terrain have earned it the legendary name “Balkan Alps.” The name Prokletije, or Bjeshkët e Nemuna in Albanian, meaning “the Accursed Mountains,” reflects the region’s once-inaccessible nature.

Due to historical and border restrictions, hiking trails were opened only in recent decades, preserving the area’s untouched landscapes. Today, Prokletije offers exceptional natural beauty, breathtaking views, peaceful mountain accommodation, authentic local cuisine, and warm hospitality.

For lovers of nature and active holidays, Prokletije is a true mountain paradise.
